issues with extended source fits

Description
reported extended source fits don't seem consistent with results. eg, poshih test image:
fit models: 0.016192 sec for 6 objects (6 psf, 0 ext, 0 failed, 1 skipped)
but one source was fitted...
too many sources were fitted by extended source analysis: only one extended source above S/N ~ 1, but 10-25 were tested...
(most seem to be faint outliers of the single galaxy).

poshih's image has only a couple sources with EXT_NSIGMA above the limit, but over 25 measured with the extended source analysiss.
are the extended sources having psf magnitudes saved? they should be.
