== PS1 Grand Reprocessing (1) Plan (2011.06.13) == === Proposed reprocessing strategy === Starting roughly this week, PS1 coverage of regions east of RA = 14^h^ will consist of 6 epochs for all filters. This provides an excellent opportunity to define the start of the Grand Reprocessing for the 3pi data going forward. If we concentrate on the regions which have recently been observed, starting at RA = 14^h^, we can follow the progress of the telescope and run the reprocessing at the sidereal rate. We can then make better use of recently observed warps to minimize re-processing effort. The data processing rate is also modest enough to allow some other Grand Reprocessing tasks to run in parallel. In addition to the 5 filter 3pi reprocessing, we have had a request from the large-scale structure group to generate a single-filter large area static sky image (proposed as i-band). The region between RA = 9^h^ and 14^h^ is probably ideal: this region has been covered 4-6 times already, and contains substantial overlap with SDSS. Finally, we have also been urged to prioritize some of the MD reprocessing. Thus, the proposed plan starting roughly 2011.06.15 is: * 3pi reprocessing for recently observed regions * MD reprocessing, one field at a time, starting with MD04 and MD07 * 3pi reprocessing in i-band from 9^h^ to 14^h^ === Concerns & Issues blocking the start of GR1 === * finalize stack rejection code modifications (CZW) * finalize & install reference database * ensure MD fields are covered * define invalid regions (lack of coverage, poor photometry) * adjust zero points to match SDSS * cleanup what we can * boost reshuffle rate? === Old Issues === * Finalize Static Masks '''done''' * Address increased Magic Masking since 8/23 modifications '''done''' * Internal Calibration of reference catalog '''done''' * log-flux output for 3pi stacks '''done''' * Hardware installation: wave 1 refurb '''done''' * Diff photometry check '''done''' * Other metadata needs, especially fields needed by PSPS * PSF_QF_PERFECT vs PSF_QF inconsistencies '''done''' Additional operational improvements that do not affect the science result: * tool to automate re-burntooling of old data
